2022 Outdoor Activities and Overnight Events

  • Jan 7-8 Lock-In – NWUMC.  A Scout favorite, formerly held in December, but moved to January to accommodate the Holiday season at NWUMC.  Service project; basketball, video games; card and board games; bowling and food!  Enjoy the events all night long, if you can! 
  • Feb 5-6 Caving Camp Out – Blue Springs Park, Bedford, IN;  Leave Saturday around noon for a 5 hour trip to a cavern.  In the caves you will rotate through stations where you will learn about the caves, go spelunking, and go on a boat ride.  After the programs, we will sleep in the cave and depart the next morning.  Limited to 30 Scouts and 6 adults. 
  • Mar 18-19 Climbing Camp – Vertical Adventures.  First overnight opportunity for 2022 Crossovers.  Friday night 10 pm to 2 am climb followed by an overnight on the mats and a morning leave around 7 am.  Pizza served. 
  • Apr 9-10 Patrol Methods Camp.  TBD (Lazarus, Otter Run) First camping opportunity for Crossovers.  Camp overnight on Saturday (weather permitting).  Leave Saturday morning, patrol bonding activities throughout the day, Jambalaya in the evening and an early departure on Sunday. 
  • Apr 29-May 1 Thunderbase – Ross County Fairgrounds.  Largest regional Camporee organized by Simon Kenton Council.  Program includes live performances, STEM and robotics, climbing walls, competitions, games, Scout skills, special programming from community partners, and much more!  Toop Cooking 
  • May 20-22 Advancement Camp TBD (Falling Rock, Otter Run)  Two night camp focused on helping Scouts learn and earn rank requirements that cannot be met inside – fire starting, cooking, ax yard, knife safety – capped with a great campfire on Saturday evening. 
  • Jun 10-12 Outdoor Skills Camp – Lake Savage, Londonderry, OH.  Wilderness Survival MB (build  your wilderness survival shelter), Forestry Merit Badge, fishing and catch up on other outdoor a beautiful private setting,
  • July 10-16 Summer Camp – Camp Friedlander (Greiser A & B, Clandhia)    One week of friends and fun where you work on merit badges and have fun at water activities, shooting sports, climbing and repelling, and developing long lasting friendships, highlighted by our Wednesday evening campfire.  Activity sign-ups begin in January and swim tests during April. 
  • Aug 12-14 Aquatics Camp The Adaptive Adventure Sports Coalition (TAASC) , Powell.  On water Kayaking Merit Badge; fishing, Family Picnic Saturday evening with Campfire Ceremony (watch your Scout perform!) 
  • Sept 9-11 Outdoor Games Camp – Otter Run, West Liberty, OH.  Outdoor games, such as capture the flag, steal the bacon and field sports (football, baseball, ultimate frisbee).  Hammocking opportunity on the “Hammock Wheel”
  • Oct 14-16 (to be confirmed) Monster Mash – Camp Lazarus.  We will continue our years of service at Monster Mash.  Dress up and help on the scare trail.  Dinners supplied by the camp and a patch. 
  • Nov 4-5 Turkey Camp, NWUMC, Help prepare Arrow of Light Scouts for BSA while we are also preparing an amazing turkey dinner.  The event also includes the transition to our new Senior Patrol Leader and a memorable flag retirement ceremony at the end of the evening. 
  • Dec 2-4 Winter Extravaganza – Falling Rock (Sequoia Lodge) Game Design MB and Chess MB; Board games, cards, activities; potentially movie making if weather doesn’t allow for outdoor activities.

  • December: Santa On-the-Go (Deliver toys in the neighborhood on the NWUMC Brown Bag Lunch Route) 
  • Anytime: Playground and Children’s Garden -ongoing weeding and garden work*
