How do I join the Troop 200 Yahoo Group?

I have questions about the website/Yahoo group/photo site.  Who should I contact?

Should I join the Troop 200 Yahoo Group?

YES!  This is an important communication tool (and doesn’t flood your inbox).

How do I join the Troop 200 Yahoo Group?

  1. Go to http://groups.yahoo.com
  2. Select the “Sign up” link if you are new to Yahoo Groups.
  3. Follow the Yahoo instructions for creating a Yahoo id/mail account.
  4. Once your id is created go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/troop200/
  5. Click on the blue “Join this group” button.
  6. Follow the Yahoo instructions for joining a Yahoo group.  Be sure to include your name and your scout’s name in the “Comments” box.
  7. You should hear back from the group moderator in a day or two.  Then you are in!

If you already have a Yahoo id/mail account you can skip straight to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/troop200/
Follow the “Join” instructions, etc.

If you object to setting up a Yahoo ID, you can still get the Yahoo Groups e-mail postings.  Send an e-mail to the Troop 200 webmaster requesting an invitation to the Yahoo Group.  Remember that this ONLY gets you the outgoing e-mails – you will not have access to the troop directory, committee meeting minutes, and other facilities.

I have information I’d like to post on the website.  What should I do?

Send the information (preferably via e-mail) to the Troop 200 webmaster.  Caveat: Be sure to give the webmaster sufficient lead time to get your information posted - event information (3-4 weeks), other information (5-7 days).

Event leaders should use the form available under “Event Planning” on the web site’s home page to provide event details.

How do I get my photos posted?

First review your photos.  Too dark?  Out of focus?  Third shot of the same subject?  Can’t remember why you took that picture?  Leave those out.  Next pick your best photos – the ones you’d share with friends.

If your photos are digital you have a couple of options.

First, e-mail the photos to the troop webmaster (
julie.m.albert@gmail.com).  You should here from me in about 1-2 days to acknowledge your photos. If you don't hear from me, you need to try again.

Second, you can burn your photos to a CD or put them on a jump drive and bring them to the Scout meeting. Generally one of the adult Alberts (John and Julie) is there and you can turn over your CD/jump drive. It's a good idea to drop me a line and let me know you will be bringing photos. Occasionally (and during lacrosse season) Albert attendance may be spotty.

If you have prints you'd like posted, don't despair. The webmaster has a scanner she needs to justify - and no prints are harmed during the scanning of pictures. So bring your prints to the meeting and they can be posted too.

If you have any questions about getting your photos up on the troop website, please feel free to contact me directly at julie.m.albert@gmail.com.

I have questions about the website/Yahoo group/photo site.  Who should I contact?

Troop 200 webmaster or the Troop 200 Scoutmaster.  E-mail links may be found at the bottom of every Troop 200 web page.
