Dear Scouts and Parents:
Troop 200 will be attending Summer Camp this year at Camp Friedlander, near Cincinnati, Ohio. The dates are from July 13 through July 19. This will be our third year at Camp Friedlander, and we are very excited about the programs and facilities this camp offers. .
Summer Camp is one of the highlights of a Scout’s career. It is a weeklong program where Scouts from many troops come together and camp, hike, swim, work on merit badges and rank advancements, and have fun with their buddies. Programs exist for all levels of Scouting. Each Scout learns at his own rate. At least 46 Merit Badges will be offered at Camp Friedlander in 2008, along with many additional opportunities for completing challenging activities. In addition to individual growth, the Troop and its Patrols also grow through the many programs and activities that are offered. Fond memories of Boy Scout Summer Camp will last a lifetime!
Attached is a list of the information most frequently asked for about Summer Camp over the past few years. We realize that for many new Scouts, Summer Camp is the first time they are away from home for such a long time. This information will help Scouts and Parents feel more comfortable about what Summer Camp is all about. Parent involvement in helping your son prepare for Summer Camp is as important as going to Camp. During an upcoming Tuesday night meeting we will go over all the Summer Camp details. This communication packet provides most of the basics dealing with this year’s Summer Camp so that we can all “BE PREPARED” to have a week packed with lots of fun and excitement. Please read all the information because some items are required to be done by certain dates BEFORE we go to Camp.
Parents are also encouraged to attend Summer Camp. This is a great place and time to see your son advance. We welcome all parents, moms and dads both, to come help with summer camp. Space is limited and we request your commitment for the full week. The Troop will pick up the fees for any adult attending camp. Where else can you get tons of fresh air, be in the great outdoors, get away from home or work and have lots of fun in the process with your son and his fellow Scouts?
$225 is the total charge unless missing the sign-up dates. If you have already made a deposit, we will be contacting you shortly regarding the balance. Contact me, or our Troop Summer Camp 2008 Coordinator, John Pirt, if you have questions that are not answered by the distributed materials.
Yours Truly in Scouting,
Matt Frye – Scoutmaster, Troop 200
