Utensils
Contents of Utility Cook-kit:
- 1 toolbox (the kit box)
- bungee cord (inside lid) as glove holder
- 2 tablespoons
- 1 butter/spreading knife
- 1 short serrated paring knife
- 1 longer utility cooking/chopping knife
- 4" x 6" plastic cutting board
- 1 set of metal tongs (for handling hot food)
- aluminum pliers (for lifting hot pots/lids)
- potato peeler
- 1 white plastic food scraper
- 1 can opener
- 1 1-cup measuring cup
- 1 slotted serving spoon
- 1 non-slotted serving spoon
- 1 ladle
- 1 spatula
- 2 insulated gloves
Usage:
- These items are for patrol COOKING and SERVING use ONLY. NOT as replacements for lost/forgotton personal utensils. If you DO borrow some utensil during a campout it should ALWAYS be returned to the utensil kit (AFTER WASHING) by the end of each meal!
- Only CLEAN utensils should be placed back in the utensil box.
- The white plastic scraper is for cleaning stuck-on food out of pots and our cast-iron skillets and dutch ovens. Is is NOT a chisel, spatula, firestarter, shoe scraper, etc.
- Try to keep the gloves CLEAN as they can just be wiped, not washed, once soiled.
Cleaning & Storage:
- Used utensils should be washed in our normal 3-4 tub washstationa after each meal/use during campouts and always stored CLEAN.
- All parts (except for gloves) can be put through a home dishwasher for better sterilization following a campout.
